Churdan Day promises fun for all this Saturday

Churdan will be The Place to Be Saturday, June 18. A volunteer committee has planned an entire day of fun activities for all ages.

The day will start with a 5K Fun Run at 7:30 am. The run will begin and end at the park. Registration can be done prior to the run. There is a $10 registration charge for adults, but children age 12 and younger can participate at no charge. There will also be a 3-on-3 basketball tournament starting at 9 am, and a sand volleyball tournament starting at noon.

The morning will also feature a parade starting at the school at 10 am, a car/tractor/semi show on the east side of the park after the parade, and a vendor fair on Sand St from 9 am to noon.

A lunch concession will be available at the park shelter house from 11 am to 1 pm.

Churdan’s own Town & Country Band will perform at noon in the park. The band, now in its 23rd year, will perform some selections that will be new to the Churdan audience, as well as some familiar music.

The afternoon will feature kids’ games in the park from 2 to 4 pm, a quilt show and bingo in the library from 1 to 4 pm, and judging of a beard contest at 4 pm at the park shelter house.

Concessions from Barrel Smoke will be available after 4 pm. The firemen will host a beer garden with music by Jesse Wilson at the park from 8 to 11 pm at the park.

There will be a fireworks display at dusk.
